For the years that I’ve been going to revival house and anniversary screenings of the 1980 movie musical Xanadu, I’ve been noticing (and taking the occasional pictures for my web site) a small army of home-made Xanadu t-shirts, fashionable fanboy and fangirl tributes done with iron-ons galore.
I have an amateur Xanadu shirt of my own; it was a commissioned piece that had ONJ holding the ELO logo from the back cover of the soundtrack painted on the front. It was from the very early 90’s and I had retired it from public exhibition since the 25th Anniversary Screening back in 2005.
I haven’t slapped this on a shirt just yet. I “borrowed” the slogan from a Tom Waits song (The Piano Has Been Drinking [Not Me]) and a much smaller version of this has been used as icons of various social pages of mine for the past couple of years.
Since I did the last new X-shirt [link] , I figured I better commit this for a much larger canvas…

Somehow I more had thought in my head of another ELO song in my head from the thought: "Nobody's Child" from Eldorado. The whole idea of the "painted lady" just screams to me the muses (and Oli) in the mural
